Ofsted stands for the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services, and Skills. It is a government body tasked with inspecting and regulating care for children and young people. They frequently inspect schools to check that the standard of care and education for your child reaches the required governments targets.
After an inspection Ofsted will then grade the school according to one of its four categories: Outstanding, Good, Requiring Improvement and Unsatisfactory. They then help schools that are not yet of good standard to improve, monitor their progress and share with them the best practice.
