Oak Class, joined by our Year 3 children spent a fab day taking part in Den Day, an initiative that supports 'Save the Children' - our school charity for this academic year.
During the morning, we watched a video explaining what Den Day is all about before the children designed their own dens, made bunting and iced buns. They then gathered sticks, cardboard, sheets and tarpaulins before going out to the school field to begin making dens. The sun shone and soon we were joined by Whitebeam Class. Before long, a wonderful array of creative structures could be seen around the school field.
The afternoon was spent improving or extending their dens before finishing the afternoon by eating buns, biscuits and cakes.
28 children returned to school at 6pm to participate in the 'Natural Disaster Sponsored Sleepover'. They laid their sleeping bags out in the school hall before going out to the school field to play bucket rounders, five-a-side football and hide-and-seek in the dark. They enjoyed chips with oodles of ketchup and also watched a DVD before finally settling down to sleep. Sponsorship raised so far across the school amounts to a fantastic £586.29!
