The Charity of the Year chosen and supported by the pupils of our academy is The Woodland Trust (you can read more about it on the Charity of the Year page). Our first fundraising event was an art competition arranged by the School Council with a theme of Trees.
Children were invited to create a ‘tree’ in any medium they liked.
What a wonderful and diverse range of entries there were! There were drawings, paintings, collages, models, sculptures, a carved pumpkin and a photograph to name a few. If you’d like to see more pictures look on the aforementioned Charity of the Year page.
It was decided outside help was needed so we invited Katherine Shaw from West Acre Theatre to come and judge for us. She didn’t find it easy and was very impressed with the standard of entries. But, it was a competition so there had to be winners all of whom were presented with a certificate. These were:
Reception: Florence Manson
Year 1: Isla Turner
Year 2: Nataniel Szewc
Year 3: Didier Burthun
Year 4: McKenzie Huckle
Year 5: Maddie Stabler
Year 6: Lewis Patrick
Well done to all the entrants, you obviously all worked very hard. £24 was raised for this wonderful charity. Thank you to the School Council for organising it all, your hard work is very much appreciated.
