A myth is a story explaining why people and animals are the way they are ,or how a natural event or phenomena happens eg. How darkness came into the world; How the giraffe got his long neck. Listen to the myth: 'Why is the sea salty?'

When you are listening to it think about:
A storyboard can be used to help you explain what is going to happen in a story. You can tell the story by drawing pictures and sentences of the key events.Thought or speech bubbles can also be used.
Year 2: This will take 2 days to create a neat and beautifully presented storyboard of the myth’ Why is the sea salty’
Task 1 :Jot down and plan what happens in the story before you start your storyboard. Who are the characters? Where is it set? Think about the key events in the story. How does the salt get into the sea?
Include in your myth a simile, adverbials ( suddenly, quickly, carefully), strong adjectives and verbs.
Year 3: This will take 2 days to create a neat and beautifully presented storyboard . You will write your own myth telling the story ‘Why is the sea salty’

Things to think about:
Task 2 : Create a story board of your own story to show the key events. Remember to add narrative to each picture (tell the story) to describe what is happening. Add speech or thought bubbles in each picture..

An example of a story board template is attached. You may choose to draw your own using a ruler. It must have at least 8 boxes but you may use more if you wish.

Salt water experiment.
Before you watch the video clip mix a teaspoon of salt into 50ml (approx) of water and stir. What do you notice happens to the salt?

Pour the salt water mixture into a shallow dish (e.g. a shallow bowl/plate/saucer) and leave on a sunny windowsill. What do you notice?
After a few days, record what you noticed. Can you explain in pictures and words what has happened to the salt and water using scientific vocabulary?
