Caribbean Day!
On Monday 27th January we all dressed in colourful clothes for Caribbean Day and Steel Pan Workshop.
First the whole school went in the hall and heard steel pans play. One sounded high and one sounded low. We clapped and sang Who Let the Dogs Out, Don't Worry About a Thing and also others. We did the Conga and danced and then it was playtime.
After we went back to our classes, before lunch, Rowan Class went and heard the steel pans again. After lunch it was Whitebeam's turn. We asked questions and got to play the steel pans. A B C D E F G make different sounds.
In the afternoon it was Oak Class's turn. In Whitebeam we made masks, mine was a love heart in rainbow colours. We also learnt about carnivals.
Did you know... the people who take part in carnivals wear really colourful costumes and face paints or masks. The drummers who play the steel pans are called pannists.
The day was brilliant and I really liked the dancing and the Conga.
